HarmoniCon embraces our musical and historical heritage by providing an educational weekend for all ages to explore, share and learn the ancient and modern music of the fifes and drums. For ages 11 and up and no historic uniforms required!


Civil War School of Music!
Train as a Civil War Field Musician in a School modeled on the School of Practice, Governors Island, New York, circa 1861. Live as a Civil War soldier from Reveille to Extinguish Lights. From 9:30am until 4pm Saturday, the schedule for all activities will be completely regulated by bugle, drum, and fife.




The Field Music School Association, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is supported by the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, the Fifes and Drums of Colonial Williamsburg, the Fifes and Drums of York Town, Retro Daddio, and many more sponsors. On this website you will find much information about the history of field musicians; the history of the 19th century Army school of music on Governors Island in NY Harbor; countless resources for fifers, drummers, and buglers; bios of the outstanding instructors and staff who will be leading the two events; registration forms; and guidelines to help you prepare for your arrival and participation. Field musicians ages 11 through adult are welcome, and there are also opportunities for volunteers.
